Alab Mirasol Ayroso, National Coordinator

Alab Mirasol Ayroso (she/her) is a climate justice activist based in Manila, Philippines currently studying biology at the University of the Philippines with a focus on ecology for her undergraduate. As a member of UP Zoological Society and UP Saribuhay (biodiversity), she campaigns for the protection of biodiversity through community-centered conservation.

She comes from a family of activists and has been protesting for human rights and gender justice as young as 5 years old. An organizer of climate strikes since 2019, she is now the convenor and national coordinator of YACAP (Youth Advocates for Climate Action Philippines) — the Fridays for Future of our country.

With her indigenous roots on her mom’s side and her dad a land defender that is a victim of enforced state disappearance, she vows to continue the resistance of her family. She strongly advocates that human rights and climate justice cannot be achieved without the other.
