The importance of our coastal greenbelt ecosystems is never more obvious than when we face strong rains and storms. Mangroves help dispel the energy of waves, protecting coastal communities from storm surges.
We have also seen that areas stripped of their mangroves, such as Taliptip in Bulacan and other areas damaged in the name of “development,” are now severely flooded following #CarinaPH and the intensified southwest monsoon.
