YACAP stands in solidarity with Palestine as they face an ongoing campaign to exterminate their people, culture, and history by the settler colonial state of Israel. We recognize that the system of oppression and imperialism that causes the climate crisis is also responsible for immediate and devastating destruction happening in Palestine right now. These actions are perpetrated by those in power of Israel, condoned and supported by the United States. We, Filipino climate activists, recognize this pattern of violence in our own country, where the United States backs the ruling elite to bomb and militarize our countryside communities.
Climate justice is social justice. It is our duty as human beings to stand with the most oppressed. As we stand with countryside communities in the Philippines facing militarization, we stand with the people of Palestine, who face the same thing.
We express our support and solidarity with the people of Palestine in their continued struggle for liberation.
YACAP took part of the actions at the Israel embassy in Bonifacio Global City and the different strikes in the past eight months in the Philippines to condemn the genocidal war of Israel on Palestine. Today marks the eighth month of the latest non-stop aggression of Israel on the Palestinian people. Thousands of women and children have been killed since the attacks of Israel, while thousands more have been displaced and harmed by the airstrikes. These attacks are backed by the imperialist US military and government, something us Filipinos are not strangers to. The attacks on our communities in the Philippines are the same weapons and training that the US and Israel military use.
Climate advocates and the Filipino youth echo the calls for a free Palestine! Hold the US and Israel accountable for their crimes against humanity! Our fight for climate justice cannot be achieved on occupied land!
Climate justice is social justice. Climate justice is anti-colonialism. Climate justice is Palestinian liberation! Free Palestine!
