Earth Day 2023: No to Reclamation! Pro-people adaptation now!

This April 22 for #EarthDay2023🌏, youth from all over the Philippines say “No to reclamation! Pro-people adaptation now!” Amidst the ongoing climate crises, the government still opts for money-making projects that will only put the marginalized sectors at a great disadvantage‼️‼️

The government should heed our calls 🤳 for justice pertaining to the livelihood of the fisherfolks who are the most affected by these reclamation projects. Not only will the people be at stake, but also our deteriorating environment that we should be protecting. 🫂

As youth advocates, we have the right to demand for systemic change for our fellow Filipinos. Social justice is climate justice! ✊

On April 22, YACAP with other environmental organizations stormed the headquarters of San Miguel corporation to demand accountability for their destructive projects such as the reclamation along Manila Bay and for devastating our ecosystems with the recent Mindoro oil spill.

We then went to Mendiola to register to the public and to Malacañang the plunder and fascism deployed by the Marcos-Duterte regime. To close the day, we held a YACAP-led picnic to discuss the issues of the environment.
